HDMI 2.2 confirmed to launch at CES 2025
videocardz.com, Jan. 02, 2025 –
Last month, reports suggested that HDMI version 2.2 might be on the horizon. This was based on press releases sent by the HDMI Licensing Administrator (HDMI LA) to attendees of the CES 2025 conference. We now have a full invitation conrming that new specications are indeed coming and that the version will be called 2.2.
The email explicitly conrms the existence of a new HDMI version with "new specications" and "higher bandwidth." Unfortunately, it does not provide any details about the specications or indicate whether it will be supported by next-generation GPUs. These details will be conrmed at CES 2025, exactly on January 6 at 10:00 AM, just hours before the rst keynote featuring AMD's new Radeon GPUs.
In the "About HDMI Licensing Administrator" section, the email clearly states that it discusses "license Version 2.2 of HDMI Specications." This conrms that the 2.2 standard is not speculation but has been veried by HDMI LA themselves.
