Next-generation industrial and consumer IoT applications will be able to be designed thanks to this seamless integration into the current STM32 development ecosystem. From industrial to daily use, the aim is to enable the creation of smart and linked goods thereby enhancing efficiency and technical capacity in many industries.
Ricardo De Sa Earp said, "the aim of this new phase is to mix the STM32 MCU ecosystem with Qualcomm's world-leading wireless connectivity solutions." "This will enable easily and seamless integration of wireless connectivity into existing STM32 developer ecosystems, allowing designers to create faster and more efficient systems for industrial and consumer IoT applications."
Enrico Salvatori, Senior Vice President and President of Qualcomm Europe, highlighted how Qualcomm views this collaboration as part of its broader vision for the IoT market. He said, "For Qualcomm, IoT is an area where we are investing more and more. We are using technology developed for the smartphone industry to address other sectors, and STMicroelectronics is a valuable partner for us."
A Seamless Ecosystem for Faster Development
Integration of Qualcomm's wireless connection technologies–Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread combo –into ST's STM32 MCU architecture forms the core of this cooperation. Providing a completely integrated solution combining hardware and software helps to streamline the process for developers. Based on Qualcomm's SoC technology, ST intends to offer a self-contained module tailored for compatibility with STM32 microcontrollers. This module should greatly shorten development time and increase customer time-to–market.
