From Processor IP to Processor or supercomputer chip: What is needed and what is the next success track ?
This panel gives an opportunity to exchange some vision about the future of processor IP up to extension to processor / multiprocessor chip
Focusing on IP (as the innovative building block... ), an introductive survey will be given about the processor IP listed differentiating the general purpose ones from the application specific ones and most important analyzing the market attraction.
The following questions will be addressed:
At the Processor IP level what Processor IPs may be missing as basic blocks (low power, new application, etc ... )
Did RISC-V change the landscape of processor IP ? Or just serve the community about a shared development environment and easier training... Can it be a political weapon ?
Is Arm still and for ever the pioneer and winner as a provider of processor IPs ? As basic building blocks ? Or as a processor ecosystem (around Amba bus) provider ? For which applications ?
And next to come: what could be the success track ?
Due to the high degree of IC integration is a microprocessor chip a viable target ? Or just a building block ?
Or better to go to multiprocessor or super computer on chip ? Which applications ?
